What makes these courses different from others available elsewhere?

We have worked to identify facilitators who are not only experts, but are working in the creative industry today. This places you on the bleeding edge of practical knowledge and skills developments. If that’s not enough, our facilitators will also be your mentors working with you whether your goal is to develop your own projects, or start your career path.

I’ve completed pre-registration. What are the next steps?

You’ll be contacted for an interview with our facilitators and course team. These interviews are slated for the weekend of September 3rd/4th, and will be in the morning. Once you’ve successfully completed your interview, you’ll get a participant agreement you’ll need to sign and return.

What is the cost of the courses?

Each course is US$1,200

How do I pay for the courses?

Once you’ve successfully completed your interview, you’ll receive a Paypal payment request via email.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes! At least 50% (US$600) is required to begin the course. The balance can be paid in up to three (3) installments.

How long are the courses?

The courses are scheduled to run over 12 weeks for Motion Comics and 13 weeks for Storyboarding & Animatics, and Blender. Starting the weekend of September 10.

How long are the sessions?

Each weekly session will be up to 3 hours long.

Are the courses in person or online?

All of our courses are live and fully online.

How can I connect to the courses?

The courses will be conducted using Google Meet. You’ll need a computer (recommended) tablet or smartphone with an internet connection, a mic, speakers/headphone, and a working camera.

Will you provide the needed software?

No. Neither Skylarkin’ Media Inc., nor our facilitation partners Rootstory Academy will provide any software to participants. You are responsible for providing your own copies of the software. The software used in our course are Adobe Premiere & After Effects, and Blender. Adobe Creative Cloud subscriptions start at US$19.99/month. Blender is a free and open source platform.

Is there a difference between the courses that use Adobe software and Blender?

The course details are the same. The difference is in your choice of software. We believe that would be simpler for everyone to have one track for Adobe Premiere & After Effects, and one for Blender.

Adobe is the industry leader in terms of software, but more big studios like Studio Ghibli as well as small indie producers are finding Blender to be a highly capable and robust alternative.

What can I do with the knowledge I gained from these courses?

These courses are designed to provide you with the ability to take meaningful steps in creating your own content or start your path to a career in animation, game development and more. Storyboarding skills are in high demand in areas like marketing, game development, animation, live action film and television and more.

Will there be other courses in the future?

Yes! We are hard-at-work developing courses in writing for comics, illustration for comics and more!
